Calamint, a member of the mint family, sparkles with white/pale lavender flowers in late summer into fall. Solid green foliage emits a pleasing mint fragrance. Attracts bees. Sometimes referred to as lesser calamint. Calamintha nepeta spp nepeta covers itself with light blue flowers.
Low mounding to about 20", it makes a terrific edge of the border plant in the transition zone between your lawn and medium water-use bed. At the front of a medium water-use border either as a single specimen, a group of 3 or 5, or as a border plant along a pathway. Especially attractive in a rock garden or fragrant garden.
Although a member of the mint family, I've had mine for 5 years and it has not spread like mint, nor have I noticed any reseeding. Snip off dead top growth in late winter or early spring.
